Fresh Cut — by Bloom Forward

February begins with an unexpected observance: National Get Up Day — a reminder to rise after we fall, and it feels fitting at the start of Valentine’s month.

For those of us in the floral world, February is a sprint. We think in stem counts, logistics, and deadlines. But the people buying flowers don’t see any of that.

They experience flowers as emotion.

Encouragement. Apology. Celebration. A small act of hope.

Flowers & Mood

There’s real science behind what we already know: flowers lift mood, reduce stress, and create connection. Even a simple bouquet can shift the energy of a room.

In a month centered on love, flowers also quietly support resilience. They say, “I’m thinking of you.” They say, “Let’s begin again.”

Sometimes getting back up looks like sending roses. Sometimes it looks like buying them for yourself.

Happy February 1st!

February Is… Complicated

Today also happens to be:

🍫 National Dark Chocolate Day 🔥 National Baked Alaska Day 🐍 National Serpent Day 🤠 National Texas Day

Perhaps the lesson is this:

Life is layered. Sometimes dramatic (Baked Alaska), sometimes symbolic (serpents shedding skin), sometimes bold and iconic (Texas), sometimes sweet (dark chocolate). And flowers seem to belong in all of it.

They fit the grand gesture and the quiet reset.

A Subtle Reminder

Valentine’s may be the headline, but the real opportunity in February is reminding people that flowers aren’t reserved for one day.

They’re for encouragement. For resilience. For everyday brightness in the middle of winter.

And that’s a message worth repeating.

Here’s to getting back up. Here’s to a wonderful February!
